Broken Glass Jello

This is an absolutely-great-looking recipe I have to try this holiday!!!!! As for the sweetened condensed milk substitution I think this one will do just fine!!

Ingredients

  • 1 box (6 oz or 170 g) of Jell-O or store brand “gelatin dessert” in red color (strawberry)
  • 1 box (6 oz or 170 g) of Jell-O or store brand “gelatin dessert” in green color (lemon, I had to add a few drops of green coloring)
  • 1 big can sweetened condensed milk (740 g, or 26 oz)
  • 12 unflavored gelatin sheets (20 g or 0,7 oz powdered gelatin, two sachets)
  • some vegetable oil to grease the molds for optimal unmolding

Sweet and Soft Christmas Molasses Buns

It is said that grape molasses have more nutritional  value than honey. Did you know that it has a big importance for pregnants, babies and children? Well, it has a big effect on bone development, as it is rich in calcium and potassium. It’s also a great source of energy: 200 gr molasses is equal to 1550 gr milk or 350gr meat in terms of calorie they contain!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup brandy
  • 1 cup grape molasses
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • ¼ tsp. fresh cloves, ground
  • about ½ kg all-purpose flour

Christmas Spiced Cookies with Honey Syrup and Chopped Walnuts

They are greek traditional little cookies called melomakarona, which translates as “honey macaroons”, and they are actually made with olive oil and lots of Christmas spices which are then soaked in honey syrup and topped with chopped walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of olive oil, light in taste
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup of semolina
  • 650-700 gr of plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove powder
  • 250 gr walnuts, chopped

Syrup

  • 1 & 1/2 cups of water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 10 tbsp honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • piece of orange peel (optional)
